Wendy has been knitting for nearly 25 years and crocheting even longer. Hats, scarves, cowls, gloves, blankets, and crochet amigurumi animals all start as yarn on her needles and hooks.
Wendy has lived with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus since about 2000. It brings fatigue and pain, including in her hands and knuckles, which is how the brand got its name. She enjoys making things so much that she has never stopped creating.
Every piece is one of a kind, made slowly and with care, and made to be worn, used, and loved for years.

The maker
Wendy Blommendahl.
Wendy founded Knotted Knuckles with a simple love: making things by hand and seeing folks wear and use them.
She has been knitting for nearly 25 years and crocheting even longer, creating hats, scarves, cowls, gloves, blankets, and crochet amigurumi animals.
Living with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus since about 2000 has brought fatigue and hand pain, but her love of creating has kept her stitching. That knuckle pain inspired the name Knotted Knuckles.
Wendy used to teach high school math. Since becoming disabled and not being able to work regularly, she has enjoyed having more time to create things.
She still loves teaching, and is happy to show others how to knit or crochet. Sharing these crafts is another way to pass along the joy she finds in making things by hand.
